Aberhafesp YFC News
This year’s (2014) County Rally was held at Tynwtra Farm in Llanwyddelan, at the end of May. Aberhafesp were part of the organising committee, and Tom Owen was elected Vice-Chair of the committee. Many of the members helped prepare the site for the Rally, and parents helped with stewarding during the day and at night.
The club entered a male tug-of-war team for the first time in many years. Thanks must go to Mike Williams (and little Al) for the training, and to Hazel for the numerous cups of tea. It all paid off, even though they were the youngest team entered they did very well against the ‘big boys’ in the competition, and they did win their pulls against Trefeglwys. The roar of the crowd cheering our boys on will stay with them for a long time.
Other notable results on the day were Jamie Owen coming 2nd with the Holstein judging U16, Fraser Jones and Ben Williams came 3rd in the Agricultural Challenge and Millie Woolley and Abbie Akins also came 3rd with the Heroes Challenge, and the promotional board gained 4th position. Well done to everybody who took part in competitions on the day.
During the summer, members have enjoyed evenings of paintballing, visiting the cinema and Newtown Fire Station, plus playing sports.
The AGM was held at the end of the YFC year. Chair Tom Owen gave an account of all the activities of the club over the last 12 months and wished the club success for the coming year.
